85 Years and Focused on the
Future
In April
2001, in celebration of our 85th anniversary, Bank of
Ocean City held a Scholarship Contest for 2nd grade
students of all area elementary schools. The essays were written on
the subject, "What I think the world will be like 10 years from now."
All essays
received by April 30, 2001 were locked in a Safe Deposit Box (Time
Capsule) at the bank's main office. The Time Capsule will be opened
in April 2011 and the essays will be judged for accuracy as to what
the world is really like at that time.
At the time
of the judging, the winner must be a resident of Worcester or
Wicomico counties in Maryland or Sussex county in Delaware to be
considered. The winner must be accepted, or enrolled, in college in
April 2011 as the prize will be awarded in the form of a
scholarship. All attempts will be made to locate and contact the
winner and parents of the winner.
The awarded
scholarship will be the value of a fund that was established in
April 2001 in the amount of $1000, and managed for growth by a
designated trust officer from the bank.
